I am beginning to gather, prepare, plan… and otherwise get my mind harnessed toward the mighty job…privilege… of the coming 2014/15 school year. And, O! the joy! I am sitting in the midst of piles of books. Such a place- I love. I have been working on my little boys’ items this late evening. I have parts of their first and third grade curriculum all laid out in neat piles and then… then- I gathered my supplemental books. Deep joy- going through my shelves and choosing all the well- loved books that they have not yet really encountered and piling them up, so pleased to be able to share the treasures- indeed, compelled! to share the treasures. Treasures that shaped memories, culture, family with those boys now cresting soon to be final years in our homeschool (otherwise known as high school).  In light of that, I researched some things and realized that this is the perfect, perfect year for them- for us, to dwell in Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure of a volume: A Child’s Garden of Verses.  And, my heart is so happy.

I felt compelled to list here- for any other interested readers- some of the volumes of beautiful, treasured poetry that we love so much. These are resources for the very young- through early elementary- although we did all just finish the Random House book of Poetry together last year- all from 8th grade down through K enjoying it immensely! Perhaps you will find life and joy and fun and beauty in one of these- just as we have and will continue to… and… if you have any favorites to share- I would love to learn of them in the comments! So, please don’t be shy!
