The Two and The Five (part 2)

The Two and The Five part 2

For awhile, I have been really, really troubled about the interactions of our children
and the atmosphere of their relationships. Sin has been wreaking havoc in their hearts.
One son- struggling hard spiritually. Another, angry and aggressive.
I recognize that some of the children are not seeing real faith lived out daily.
I realize that I witness in my own heart a lack of real faith lived out daily.
So- I declared the two overarching priorities of the Borger family day- superceding all other school.
If we are doing “these”- we are doing good. We are doing right.
The Scriptures truly are filled with everything we need for life and godliness.
Every wise direction toward right relating with one another.

The Two:
1.) We Love
2.) We live for God in our relationships

The First of the Two:
We Love:
This is our family atmosphere.
We love like God’s Word tells us to
and we love through His power and grace.
The next verse below is familiar. Its very familiarity
has sometimes numbed me to it.  Critics decrying the
commoness of the “love passage” influenced me
more than I realized.
But now it is alive with power.

For-
when you seek to really live it.
Apply it.
Put it in action.
Suddenly, it is active and sharper than a two-edged
sword. It is present and full of power.

Love is patient, Love is kind, it does not
envy. It is not proud, it is not rude. It is not
self seeking., it does not boast.
it is not easily angered
it keeps no record of wrongs. Love
does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes,
always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13

More verses for love’s strong, sweet pondering:

Do everything in love. 1 Corinthians 16:14

Above all, love each other deeply because love covers a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul
and with all your mind and with all your strength. Matthew 12:30

Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 12:31

Jesus loves. John 13:1

A new command I give you, Love one another. By this all will
know you are my disciples. John 13:34,35

Love one another so that your joy may be full. John 15: 11,12

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil. Cling to what is good.
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Romans 12: 9,10

Every heart needs love. Children especially. I seek their hearts. I seek His Grace.
Our path shall be of love. I have started more intentionally seeking to knit
their hearts together. I tell them of their friendships with each other. I speak
of their future together. I call them, out loud, best friends. I make the boys rub heads.
Seek forgiveness, give a blessing, walk in love. Serve each other.
I often, often say, “Love is not rude!”

Some people can’t stand a dirty house. While, I far prefer a clean one, I truly cannot
stand discord and strife, hurting hearts, and soul wounds within my family. Let what
we do- be done well. Whether clean homes or clean hearts (or hopefully both!)

to be continued
